Life Through Courage

“You cannot be truthful if you are not courageous.
You cannot be loving if you are not courageous.
You cannot be trusting if you are not courageous.
You cannot inquire into reality if you are not courageous.
Hence courage comes first and everything else follows.”

What does it mean
‘to be courageous’?

To be courageous is a discipline that offers different options for your life: personal freedom, clarity, confidence, and fulfillment. Therefore, being courageous is a way to approach life.

But how do you do that? What could be a way to invite more courage into your life? It starts with the most obvious, almost so obvious that it's hidden in plain sight: learning to be afraid and using fear to your advantage.

To be courageous means to be able to choose and act relevantly, even when you are afraid, and without losing parts of yourself.

Being courageous is your ability to relax with fear and use it to pursue what you want, rather than suppressing emotions, becoming dissatisfied, losing energy or getting stuck in overthinking and unfulfilling situations.

If you think and feel that you can enjoy to have more courage to shape your life join the movement of living Life Through Courage!

Who are we ?

Giulia and Leander first crossed paths during their studies in the Grinberg Method. In their third year, Giulia asked Leander to train her in Systema martial arts. This sparked a shared commitment to daily morning training sessions before class, where they explored the synergy of their disciplines.

Their collaboration deepened over the next year, as they continued to exchange knowledge and train together, both remotely via Zoom and in person during advanced studies and workshops.

Through this journey, they began to sense the emergence of something profound—a fusion of their skills and passions that held transformative potential.

From this shared vision, Life Through Courage was born: a celebration of the power of courage to inspire growth, connection, change, and joy for life.

Leander Ruivenkamp

Leander is a bodyworker, martial artist, and movement teacher with many years of experience in guiding clients through different stages of transformation, helping them to stop and change deeply ingrained patterns of limitation, individually as well as in group settings.

Drawing from years of intensive training and workshops in therapy, coaching, meditation, movement, and bodywork, Leander has received in-person teachings from several renowned teachers in various methods such as Michaela Boehm, Vladimir Vasiliev and Avi Grinberg. In his work he blends his expertise into uniquely designed workshops, training programs, and individual sessions — all centered on reclaiming personal freedom and cultivating a joyful, fulfilling life.

His sessions emphasize individual exploration and transformative experiences. With a practical, hands-on approach, Leander empowers clients to connect with their bodies, experience the world more fully, and unlock their true potential. Step by step.

With an early background in teaching outdoor sports such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and advanced snowboarding instruction, Leander has traveled and taught extensively throughout the European Alps and the US. He continues to draw inspiration from poetry, movement, and somatic explorations, weaving these elements into both his professional practice and daily life.

Giulia Carlone

Giulia is a bodyworker and embodiment teacher who empowers highly motivated individuals seeking profound transformation.

Since 2002, Giulia has been passionate about how we learn through the body. After completing a PhD exploring how perception shapes the urban environment and spending several years teaching at the university level, she moved to France, where she became a mother of two.

This new chapter in her life led her to deepen her expertise in the neurobiology of learning and attachment, archaic reflexes, movement patterns in human development, and coaching. Drawing inspiration from approaches such as Body-Mind Centering, Somatic Experiencing, Compassionate Inquiry, NeuroAffective Touch, and somatic movement, she is trained as a Grinberg Method practitioner and T.R.E. provider.

She runs a clinic in southeast France, where she integrates body-centered methods and practices to enable her clients to break free from deep seated patterns and traumas and reach a whole new level of agency, joy, and fulfilment in their lives.

Since 2022, she has developed and teaches a learning program for professionals eager to deeply integrate somatic practices into their work, enriching their knowledge and modalities to support individuals on their journeys of healing and growth.
